Cooking lessons In Sicily
The courses are held in a typical Sicilian house of the 18th century it is well restored and tastefully decorated with antique and charming furniture. The house is located on the outskirts of the volcano Mt. Etna. The area is known for its orange and lemon groves, vineyards producing DOC wine (the red, rosé and wines of Etna), known since Roman times, and luxuriant orchards and market gardens which offer some of the tastiest fruits and vegetables in the world. Also native to the area are the precious pistachio and olive groves which yield an excellent, very pure olive oil. Your accommodations are in the adjoining guest house which faces the garden.
About the lessons: The lessons are conducted by Eleonora Consoli she has lead several cuisine Italian TV programs for more than 15 years and has written some excellent books in the field. Eleonora decided to start the adventure of La Cucina del Sole to please her enthusiasm in cooking and a huge and unexpected demand from friends, acquaintances and simple tv-viewers. She is an honorary member of the Italian Cooking Academy and is pleased to introduce Sicilian cuisine to any beginner or accomplished cook. Each lesson may include a complete menu based on the more famous Sicilian recipes, focusing on pasta, fish and vegetables dishes. and the visitor may choose to actively participate to knead pasta, use ingredients, control sauce consistency and so on. The lesson lasts about 3 hours during which Eleonora explains other recipes, makes suggestions, historical references and tells anecdotes. Each class can be morning time (10:00 - 13:00) or evening time (17:30-23:00) with final lunch or dinner and beverages inclusive (Etna d.o.c. white or red wine and water).
Please note: There is a possibility of staying in nearby farmhouses which offer family hospitality with direct contact with the local culture.
