THE CHIANTI VALLEY THE LAND OF WINE
A Wine-Tasting at Fonterutoli

CULTIVATING TUSCAN WINE
A Lesson with a Tuscan Sommelier
For visitors staying or passing through the area of San Gimignano, this fun and educational activity affords a fine opportunity to truly become acquainted with the nuances of some of Italy's most celebrated wines. The Giachi family established vineyards on the hills near Ulignano in 1720 and, thirteen generations later, Pier Luigi Giachi carries on the tradition with expanded operations that now include five vineyards around the region and the production of Chianti, Vernaccia, Brunello, Super-Tuscan and more. While preserving the authenticity of a family-run, artisan-style business, the Tenuta Torciano label is now recognized around the world for top-class bottles. Savor this rare opportunity to meet and interact with the winemaker himself and benefit from his knowledge as one of the Tuscany's most accomplished sommeliers to explore the unique characteristics of Tuscan wines. Combine a lesson in history with a workshop in developing proper tasting techniques. Learn to develop visual and olfactory skills. Practice the art of marrying foods and wines. In this two-hour experience, sample a number of Giachi's own wines together with oils, cheeses and other local specialty foods.
